For natural, smooth curls, Massey has a regimen she's perfected (and which curly haired ELLE.com Executive Editor Jennifer Schonborn follows religiously). After showering, squeeze out excess water and then take a paper towel or old T-shirt and blot your hair from the bottom to the roots. Then, take a handful of gel and evenly pat it and then scrunch it into your hair. Slightly loosen hair at the scalp and shake your curls out so that they fall evenly. To expedite the drying, clip hair at the scalp to aerate, or take a thin headband and put your hair back. You can also use a blow-dryer with a diffuser on a cool setting. Use it at arm's length and don't scrunch hair—it will cause frizz. Come October, Massey will be releasing her own hair-dryer ergonomically made in the shape of a hand, which rotates while drying and reduces friction for curly hair.
